This 'planting day' is part of the Rotary Club of Harrogate's ongoing project to plant 25,000 trees in Nidderdale. It will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Harrogate and covered by the local press.

This is a big event and we need as many planters as possible, so please bring the family along with you.

Refreshments will be provided in Thornthwaite village hall at lunchtime.

Some initial setting out and planting will take place by volunteers from the AONB, in conjunction with Open Country, on Tuesday 19 March, with the main planting on Saturday 23 March, with a view to planting as many remaining trees as possible.

Full instructions will be given on the day, but please bring with you a spade and a 'lump' hammer and some strong shoes with warm clothing. There will be some spare spades on site for those wishing to come by bicycle.

If you require transport please drop us a message via our contact us page and we will try to arrange a car share.

The location is marked on the maps below.

The owners of Folly Hall, Tom and Anna Iverson, will put out direction signs to the planting area.
