Zero Carbon Harrogate’s Retrofit Programme focuses on both, funding training for the local construction industry and supporting householders in awareness of retrofit. Importantly, with funding for courses such as retrofit awareness, air source heat pump installation, and retrofit assessment and coordination we hope to facilitate the growth of available retrofit services in the local building industry.

The term retrofit is a broad and all-encompassing term which can include improving home insulation to fitting low carbon forms of heating and renewables. It is worth having a look at our Energy Saving Tips page which can give you an idea of what can be done before you start any building works on your home. Retrofit Assessors

Retrofit Assessors are commonly also Domestic Energy Assessors who have been trained to a higher standard of Pas2035 with a qualification from a TrustMark standard training provider. ZCH are funding ongoing training for local Domestic Energy Assessors who wish to offer retrofit assessment. Air Source Heat Pump Installers

We are currently funding training for several Harrogate based heating engineers and will list their contact details when training is complete. It is important when considering installing new heating systems such as Air Source Heat Pumps and other Micro Renewables, that the installer is properly qualified. When looking for a suitable installer we would advise you look for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation mark. You can visit the MCS website where you will be able to search for suitably qualified heating engineers in your area, see link.
